Freedom To Read
Our community is made up of people
with varied needs and interests. We serve them all and
therefore provide materials presenting diverse views and
expressions. You’ll find most of these materials
useful and interesting, but a few may reflect a point of
view different from your own.
The library endorses the freedom to
read and believes that censorship is purely an
individual matter. Individuals may examine and select or
reject for themselves any materials in our collection.
We follow written criteria when adding materials
to our adult and our children’s collections. The
children’s collection serves infants through fifth
grade, and the broad range of ages, interests, and
maturity levels represented requires a wide variety of
materials. Books suitable for one child may not
necessarily be suitable for another.
Responsibility for a
child’s choice of materials and access to information
through the library rests with the parent or guardian.
