I grew up in a family with 8 kids, so I love reading, talking, playing cards, watching TV, listening to music and laughing. The house was never quiet, and as a grown-up I find my house is the same. I grew up in Glen Ellyn and since the library was only a few blocks away I spent much of my summer there meeting up with friends. I never thought I would be a librarian, but here I am!
I love to read, and am especially fond of audiobooks. I never used to like them because I felt the narrator spoke too slowly, but I’ve found that the eAudio versions allow you to speed up the narration to match your listening needs. I listen at regular speed to technical or nonfiction books, and go faster for books I listen to for pleasure. I always have at least one title on my iPhone at all times. My favorite narrators are Rebecca Lowman and Neil Gaiman.
My taste in music, TV shows and reading are all very eclectic. I go for a story that will catch my interest, make me think, and leave me wanting to learn more. I often follow up a title by doing a bit of research on the Internet to gain some visual information to go along with my mental images. I am especially fond of women’s and historical fiction, cookbooks, memoirs and short stories.
