When I was younger, I was always looking for a quiet place to read. As I grew older, I learned that I wanted to help children fall in love with reading in the same way that I had. I didn’t know how I would do this until I moved to New Orleans and saw how many children there had limited access to books in their home and school. Through this experience, I found that I was passionate about granting children free access to reading materials. What better way to do this than to become a children’s librarian!
When I am not at the library or out in the community presenting storytimes, I like to spend my time reading, watching T.V. and playing with my dog. Recently, I have developed an interest in cooking and often do this while watching Chicago White Sox games. One of my favorite summer activities is going to baseball games and I have taken quite a few “Cellfies” at U.S. Cellular Field. Something I love about working in a library is getting book recommendations from the patrons and kids. If you’ve read a good book lately, make sure to stop by the youth department and let me know!
