My love for books blossomed late in life. I was that kid that hated reading in middle school and sadly even into high school, but that’s just a testament that there’s a book for every reader...you just have to find it. If only Jeff Kinney penned the Wimpy Kid books in the early 90s (they’re my guilty pleasure).
My reading interests are rather scattered. I tend to veer toward non-fiction books focused on race relations, socio-economic disparities, cultural exposés, issues facing the LGBT community, identities, etc. I’m also a “buzz” book reader and enjoy best selling fiction titles like The Rosie Project, Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, and The Kite Runner.
I have previously worked for non-profit agencies. I worked in home health care, providing support to individuals living with developmental disabilities, and more recently I worked for a large non-profit focused on providing social services to those in need.
