The Cardturner by Louis Sachar

What I wrote before:

Alton’s family depends on a possible inheritance from a wealthy uncle.  They lend Alton to his blind uncle to be his cardturner during bridge games.   I do not play bridge, but I easily followed Alton’s story as he learns more about the game and himself.
