Trend Alert: Photographic Novels

You are probably familiar with graphic novels and illustrated novels like The Invention of Hugo Cabret. An emerging trend in young adult literature is the photographic novel. These are novels that include photographs to aid in the telling of the story.

Evan feels responsible for the fact that his best friend is gone. He begins to receive mysterious photographs and suspects that his friend might have returned to seek revenge. Jonathan Farmer took the photographs included in David Levithan's novel.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Jacob's grandfather told him strange stories about he children in a set of peculiar photographs. After his grandfather dies, Jacob realizes that these stories might have been true. Ransom Riggs based the novel around vintage photographs which are included in the book.
